Job Description

This position plays a vital role in supporting the technical management of Q-Ship's fleet. You will assist with newbuild construction projects, ensure vessel compliance with regulations, oversee repairs and maintenance, and contribute to cost-effective vessel operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Vessel Construction & Maintenance:

    • Assist in managing newbuild construction projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.

    • Participate in testing procedures to verify vessel and machinery functionality.

    • Maintain awareness of vessel and machinery performance by planning repairs and following up on defects.

    • Prepare vessels for dry-docking by coordinating with dry-dock personnel.

    • Conduct regular inspections and oversee repairs during dry-docking.

    • Prepare contract specifications for equipment overhauls and oversee acceptance testing.

  • Procurement & Documentation:

    • Guide technical assistants in receiving and processing purchase requisitions according to Q-Ship procurement guidelines.

    • Ensure proper documentation, compliance with procedures, and timely placement of purchase orders.

  • Technical Troubleshooting & Reporting:

    • Investigate machinery failures and diagnose technical issues.

    • Perform corrective actions and report findings to the Senior Manager Technical Management.

  • Compliance & Documentation Management:

    • Ensure all vessel certifications and surveys for class and flag are valid for inspections and audits.

    • Maintain and update all relevant vessel documentation.

  • Budgeting & Cost Control:

    • Prepare financial budget reports for maintenance, repairs, stores, and dry-docking activities.

    • Monitor and control technical operation costs within budget constraints.

    • Prepare cost-benefit analyses and reports on vessel engineering and modifications.

  • Safety & Risk Management:

    • Assist in ensuring vessels operate in compliance with Q-Ship's best-in-class Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) practices and international regulations.

    • Analyze risks associated with vessel and machinery performance related to SHE issues.

    • Participate in developing and deploying contingency plans.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the Senior Manager Technical Management.

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant legal, regulatory, and environmental standards.

  • Prioritize the health and safety of employees and protect the environment in all work areas.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Professional Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Professional Experience:

    • 3-5 years of experience in vessel dry docking or a related field (experience in newbuild construction a plus).

  • Geographic Experience:

    • Willingness to travel may be required.

  • Computer Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and web applications.

  • Language Skills:

    • Business-fluent English.

  • Market/Industry/Functional Knowledge:

    • Strong understanding of vessel operations, administration, and inspection activities.

    • Knowledge of vessel newbuilding and construction projects.

    • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
