JOB SUMMARY
The Physician - Emergency Medicine is responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care; effective and efficient diagnosing, managing and treating all patients placed under the role holder's care.
The Physician - Emergency Medicine makes recommendations, orders appropriate therapeutics and diagnostics as per the patient's diagnosed condition.
The Physician - Emergency Medicine is also responsible for providing guidance to less experienced colleagues.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assesses and reassesses emergency department patients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice.
Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe, and holistic care for individual patients.
Reviews results of all investigations, develops and modifies treatment as required, provides guidance to less experienced colleagues.
Responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care and services in the emergency department (which includes urgent care).
Conducts rounds, reassesses emergency department patients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice.
Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required.
Provides clinical excellence by effective and efficient diagnosis, management, and treatment of all patients.
Delivers safe, effective, and holistic clinical services within accepted standards of care.
Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures.
Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
Liaises with colleagues, Allied Health staff, nursing, administrative and support services staff for additional input as required.
Complies with all hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices.
Practices appropriate utilization of the organization's resources.
Demonstrates an active interest in educating and fostering future academic leaders nationally and internationally through active participation in education initiatives.
Demonstrates an active interest and involvement in research by initiating innovative clinical or research outcomes or collaborating on research projects to support the Sidra vision.
Demonstrates commitment to Continued Medical Education (CME).
Keeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry.
Supports and participates in the organization's performance management, including peer reviews and the productivity and utilization review processes.
Performs other clinical responsibilities as assigned.
Work is normally performed in an indoor hospital / ambulatory environment.
Work requires moderate walking based on assigned locations within Inpatient and ambulatory settings, mainly at Sidra in co-operation with Hamad Medical Corporation to deliver services across the continuum of rehabilitation services care.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Education
MD, MBBS or equivalent
Completion of a residency program in Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine
Experience
Up to 2 years of post-board certification/Fellowship experience in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Sidra Medicine is a 400-bed women's and children's hospital, medical education and biomedical research center in Doha, Qatar. The hospital first opened its outpatient facility in 2016, followed by its inpatient hospital in January 2018. Qatar Foundation, a quasi-government organization, allotted a massive $7.9 billion budget for the hospital's construction. It first selected the center's contractors in 2008 but in 2014 assigned new contractors to complete the project. Biomedical research first began at Sidra in 2015. Outpatient care facilities and services were inaugurated in May 2016; as of 2018 there are at least 50 outpatient facilities. Throughout 2017, more than 25,000 people were treated at the hospital's outpatient clinic. On 14 January 2018, Sidra launched its inpatient hospital with 400 beds, treating 10 patients on its initial day of opening. The hospital is expected to become fully commissioned sometime in 2018, after the construction of an emergency department and the addition of further services.
