JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the "Pluripotent Stem Cell Disease Modeling" Team as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow. Candidates with expertise in either diabetes-related research or pluripotent stem cells are preferred, along with a proven track record of first-author publications in reputable scientific journals.
The Senior Post Doc Fellow, as part of the program team, engages in collaborative scientific work with other colleagues to deliver specific research tasks. The incumbent may also prepare status reports on program process. He/she reports to the Investigator and the Staff Scientist, and is responsible for project design and execution, scientific presentation and publication in line with the Investigator's research direction. He/she provides basic training and can have a supervisory role for graduate and undergraduate students, interns and other junior research staff as assigned.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Shares responsibility for the timely completion of assigned tasks and ensures constant progress in research pertaining to specialty area.
Performs assigned scientific research at the highest standards.
Writes and publishes articles in peer reviewed journals that highlight findings from research.
Provides regular status updates regarding developments in the project to the Investigator as requested.
Develops collaborative links with core scientific personnel in related program areas to gain exposure and build knowledge on experimental/ research activities and approaches.
Provides training and education updates for medical technologists and clinicians regarding advances in the field.
Reads pertinent research articles, keeps up-to-date with the latest technology developments/literature and identifies areas for improvement.
Critically analyzes and presents research data.
Ensures quality and provides data driven recommendations to the Investigator and Staff Scientists on the research outcomes.
Guides and trains junior research staff as required by the Investigator.
Participates in postdoc career development and review process.
Develops grant-writing skills and partakes in the preparation of grant applications as required by the Investigator.
Designs projects and proposals in line with the Investigator's research and under the guidance of the Investigator.
Develops bioinformatics skills allowing to analyze high-throughput data and trains other junior staff as required.
Presents and publishes scientific data at scientific meetings and international publications.
Participates actively in lab meetings.

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS - SELECTION CRITERIA Education
PhD in relevant field.
Experience
4+ years of post-doctoral fellowship experience.
Demonstrated independent research capabilities, good organizational skills and the ability to work with others.
Research experiences within an academic health center or university with high research activity, good record of scientific publication and outstanding reference.

Sidra Medicine is a 400-bed women's and children's hospital, medical education and biomedical research center in Doha, Qatar. The hospital first opened its outpatient facility in 2016, followed by its inpatient hospital in January 2018. Qatar Foundation, a quasi-government organization, allotted a massive $7.9 billion budget for the hospital's construction. It first selected the center's contractors in 2008 but in 2014 assigned new contractors to complete the project. Biomedical research first began at Sidra in 2015. Outpatient care facilities and services were inaugurated in May 2016; as of 2018 there are at least 50 outpatient facilities. Throughout 2017, more than 25,000 people were treated at the hospital's outpatient clinic. On 14 January 2018, Sidra launched its inpatient hospital with 400 beds, treating 10 patients on its initial day of opening. The hospital is expected to become fully commissioned sometime in 2018, after the construction of an emergency department and the addition of further services.
