Job Description
The Physician - Pediatric Cardiac ICU (CICU) is responsible for providing direct care and oversight in the delivery of Cardiac Intensive Care clinical services to all CICU patients treated at Sidra Medicine. The role involves closely following all quality and safety parameters and benchmarks to ensure the highest standard of care. Additionally, the Physician - Pediatric Cardiac ICU may handle regional and supra-regional referrals, as well as adult patients with congenital and/or structural heart disease.
Key Role Accountabilities:
Performs Evidence-Based Clinical Practice and maintains equipment inventory.
Follows Quality and Safety benchmarks to ensure the highest standard of care.
Acts as a mentoring faculty member and supports educational activities within the PCICU Services Department.
Contributes to clinical policy development and ensures effective implementation of organizational standards and compliance requirements.
Provides accurate advice and recommendations to the Executive line in a timely manner.
Assists in the implementation and maintenance of effective record-keeping and reporting systems within the CICU program.
Maintains clinical competency and proficiency through a minimal caseload volume for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Assists in planning, service development, and capacity planning for the activities of the CICU program.
Develops and implements policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards of care for the PCICU program.
Participates in clinical Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities within the CICU program.
Sets and achieves targets to drive continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided.
Collaborates with other Directors to achieve broader Sidra objectives.
Conducts research, participates in academic services, and publishes in higher impact peer-reviewed journals.
Ensures effective communication and involvement of all staff within the CICU program regarding key decisions and initiatives.
Identifies and coordinates resolution of problems to improve CICU program staff utilization and patient satisfaction.
Supports the development of Sidra as a world-class regional center.

Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care
Inpatient patient care units
Telemedicine consultation
Procedure rooms in the hospital
Site visits to referring and affiliated hospitals and clinics
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: MD, MBBS degree (or equivalent), Board Certification in Pediatrics or its equivalent, Subspecialty Fellowship and board certification in Pediatric cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care Medicine or their equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of post-board certification/fellowship experience in Pediatric CICU.

Sidra Medicine is a 400-bed women's and children's hospital, medical education and biomedical research center in Doha, Qatar. The hospital first opened its outpatient facility in 2016, followed by its inpatient hospital in January 2018. Qatar Foundation, a quasi-government organization, allotted a massive $7.9 billion budget for the hospital's construction. It first selected the center's contractors in 2008 but in 2014 assigned new contractors to complete the project. Biomedical research first began at Sidra in 2015. Outpatient care facilities and services were inaugurated in May 2016; as of 2018 there are at least 50 outpatient facilities. Throughout 2017, more than 25,000 people were treated at the hospital's outpatient clinic. On 14 January 2018, Sidra launched its inpatient hospital with 400 beds, treating 10 patients on its initial day of opening. The hospital is expected to become fully commissioned sometime in 2018, after the construction of an emergency department and the addition of further services.
