KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Communicates effectively with patients, families and members of the health care team.

  • Makes autonomous decisions related to the plans of care for patients.

  • Makes recommendations regarding assessment and specialist interventions that impact patients and families and collaborating staff/colleagues.

  • Acts as an advocate by empowering children and their families to make informed choices by providing them with information and support and directing to the relevant support services when appropriate.

  • Promotes patient satisfaction as a team member by demonstration of exceptional service.

  • Utilizing a professional practice framework and evidence based care, identify improvements while minimizing risks creating care that is optimal for our patients and families.

  • Promotes a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk to Physical Therapy Supervisor. Complies with policies for personal and patient safety and for the prevention of healthcare associated infections.

  • Reports equipment failures, safety and security issues, and/or reduction of supply inventory to Physical Therapy Supervisor or designee.

  • Working under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor makes decisions related to service delivery.

  • Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding decisions that have a unit/service impact.

  • Contributes to the achievement of cost efficiency savings for the service. Maintains an awareness of resource utilization, exercising care in the ordering and use of staff, equipment and materials.

  • Takes an active role in service activities that contribute to excellence in outcomes, a positive patient experience and a healthy professional environment. Contributes to the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction. Leads service based Performance Improvement activities and organizational committees as assigned. Contributes to special projects/assignments linked to therapy strategic priorities and professional practice model.

  • Participates in the continued development, implementation, and evaluation of Sidra Policy and Procedures to align with international best practices.

  • Liaises and works within an inter-professional practice model to ensure high quality, holistic, and safe family centered care.

  • Promotes and shares knowledge via mentorship/preceptorship programs in line with relevant research and evidence based practice.

  • Actively participates in the development programs that seek to measure outcomes and quality, including audit and research studies, under guidance, support and direction of senior staff.

  • Actively participates in patient education programs.

  • Develops and sustains (maintains) own knowledge, clinical skills (mandatory training) and professional (portfolio or profile) awareness and maintains a professional profile. Provides documented evidence of performance and maintenance of skills consistent with position.

  • Participates in new staff/student orientation aimed at developing competence and performance. Assists in maintaining a suitable learning environment and acts as a preceptor/mentor in the supervision and teaching of therapy students and new staff to develop their competence.

  • Demonstrates transcultural principles in physical therapy practice.

  • Actively participates in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication and teamwork. Treats colleagues, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect at all times.

  • Actively welcomes and provides support for new staff/students to the unit. Contributes to the retention of all staff to meet the service specific turnover rate goal. Participates in retention activities.

  • Maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Acts as a role model for junior staff.

  • Upholds the organizational values at all times.

  • Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.

  • Maintains confidentiality of women and children at all times.

  • Responsible for maintaining up to date mandatory Life Support Training requirements as directed by MoPH and Sidra (e.g. BLS, AED etc).

  • Adheres to Sidra's standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS - SELECTION CRITERIA


ESSENTIAL
Education Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy
Experience 5+ years of clinical physiotherapy experience in an accredited Healthcare or related environment with extensive specific, experience in a relevant clinical specialty
Certification and Licensure

  • Registration as a Physiotherapist and Licensure in country of origin

  • Eligible to get license by QCHP

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Physiotherapy principles and practices

  • Demonstrated ability to apply and integrate knowledge and skills into practice

  • Demonstrated ability to teach, assess and develop educational materials for staff and patients

Sidra Medicine is a 400-bed women's and children's hospital, medical education and biomedical research center in Doha, Qatar. The hospital first opened its outpatient facility in 2016, followed by its inpatient hospital in January 2018. Qatar Foundation, a quasi-government organization, allotted a massive $7.9 billion budget for the hospital's construction. It first selected the center's contractors in 2008 but in 2014 assigned new contractors to complete the project. Biomedical research first began at Sidra in 2015. Outpatient care facilities and services were inaugurated in May 2016; as of 2018 there are at least 50 outpatient facilities. Throughout 2017, more than 25,000 people were treated at the hospital's outpatient clinic. On 14 January 2018, Sidra launched its inpatient hospital with 400 beds, treating 10 patients on its initial day of opening. The hospital is expected to become fully commissioned sometime in 2018, after the construction of an emergency department and the addition of further services.
