Job Description
The Health and Wellness Coordinator has a pivotal role in supporting with planning, development, delivery and evaluation of community-based health and wellbeing programs.
S/he works closely with key internal and external stakeholders including various registered health professionals, agencies and community organizations to address the health needs of the people of Qatar and to take action on identified key priority areas.
S/he is responsible for coordinating health and wellness programs and initiatives to promote a healthy lifestyle in accordance with the Qatar National Health Strategy 2018-2022 and Sidra's mission and vision.
The Health and Wellness Coordinator supports the implementation of the Health Literacy program within the organization and supports and empowers clinical staff on implementing health literacy aspects in their day-to-day work. The department's three core workstreams are: Health Promotion, Health Literacy and Patient Education.
The Health and Wellness Coordinators practice in a variety of settings to improve the health literacy of patients and their families through the provision of evidence-based health information which help to enhance their engagement and empower them take informed decisions over their health and maintain/adopt healthy lifestyle
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Organization and Community Responsibilities
Coordinates, develops and implements a comprehensive health and wellness program that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
Utilizes health education and health promotion methodologies/ principles/process/standards to provide age specific, culturally sensitive health and wellness education programs.
Conducts needs assessments and gathers feedback to identify areas of focus for wellness initiatives.
Coordinates a comprehensive health awareness intervention to address the identified health problem based on Learning Needs Assessment data.
Gathers data and monitors trends and emerging national and international wellness programs.
Delivers educational sessions, and workshops on topics related to health, wellness, and lifestyle management.
Participates in planning, developing, and implementing individual and group Patient education for adults, pediatrics, and their families and caregivers.
Uses data insights to continuously improve and refine wellness offerings based on patients and family's needs and preferences.
Coordinates activities such as health fairs and health awareness campaigns.
Supports the implementation of health literacy principles within the organization.
Reviews the content of any patient education materials.
Utilizes the telehealth technology to support and facilitate patient education and self-management.
Communicates and markets Patient education programs to a broad target audience using appropriate methods, and based on identified/assessed needs.
Evaluates the success of implemented plan though customer surveys, questionnaires, and stakeholders' feedback.
Reports the effectiveness of patient education/health awareness programs of the proposed objectives and the implications of findings for the further developments.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS : ESSENTIAL PREFERRED
Education
Bachelor Degree in Public Health with major in Health Education
or
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing/Midwifery or any other healthcare related field with accredited certified course in Health Education
Degree in Public Health
Degree in Nursing
Degree in Allied health
Experience
2+ year of experience in healthcare field
or
No minimum years for experience required for Qatari Nationals and Public Health graduates from Qatar universities
Experience in health education
Certification and Licensure

Job Specific Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of health education/health promotion theories, modalities and strategies
Ability to plan and deliver health promotion/education intervention or program to address a priority health problem
Knowledge of plain language communication and health literacy tools
Strong knowledge and understanding of age-specific learning principles
Ability to apply evidence-based practice, research, and ability to evaluate learning outcomes
Ability to identify and design evaluation plans that incorporate process, impact, and outcome measures
Engagement in continued learning to improve health education practices that facilitate engagement of client/patient learning
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to understand medical terminology
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
Sidra Medicine is a 400-bed women's and children's hospital, medical education and biomedical research center in Doha, Qatar. The hospital first opened its outpatient facility in 2016, followed by its inpatient hospital in January 2018. Qatar Foundation, a quasi-government organization, allotted a massive $7.9 billion budget for the hospital's construction. It first selected the center's contractors in 2008 but in 2014 assigned new contractors to complete the project. Biomedical research first began at Sidra in 2015. Outpatient care facilities and services were inaugurated in May 2016; as of 2018 there are at least 50 outpatient facilities. Throughout 2017, more than 25,000 people were treated at the hospital's outpatient clinic. On 14 January 2018, Sidra launched its inpatient hospital with 400 beds, treating 10 patients on its initial day of opening. The hospital is expected to become fully commissioned sometime in 2018, after the construction of an emergency department and the addition of further services.
