Job Description
The Clinical Midwife is responsible for providing safe and effective care to women during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. They assess care needs, plan, implement, and evaluate programs of care while ensuring that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard in alignment with Sidra Standards of Practice. The Clinical Midwife participates in supervision, orientation, and training of staff, as well as education of patients, families, and students.
Key Role Accountabilities:
Makes decisions related to the plans of care for women and their babies.
Practices within the DHP Scope of Practice according to licensure within the State of Qatar.
Provides total individualized woman-centered care during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, ensuring timely documentation, discharge planning, and family education.
Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills in care delivery, initiating escalation of issues when necessary.
Independently maintains licensure and regulatory requirements, meeting organizational, professional, and role-specific orientation competencies.
Acts as a preceptor/mentor in staff/student orientation and supervision.
Promotes collaborative teamwork and maintains effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team.
Adheres to Sidra's Nursing and Midwifery Standards of Practice, ensuring evidence-based care.
Identifies opportunities for quality improvement and actively participates in initiatives.
Demonstrates effective use of technology and standardized practices to support safety and quality.
Accurately documents care, interventions, and outcomes, utilizing data from patient records for decision-making.
Adheres to Sidra's standards as outlined in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Midwifery or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with a recognized postgraduate program in Midwifery. Registered Midwife.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a midwife after completing the midwifery program and registration/licensing as a registered midwife.
Certification and Licensure: Valid professional Midwifery license for the country of origin.
Skills and Abilities: Effective communication skills, excellent team player, motivated and enthusiastic, proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, fluency in written and spoken English.

Sidra Medicine is a 400-bed women's and children's hospital, medical education and biomedical research center in Doha, Qatar. The hospital first opened its outpatient facility in 2016, followed by its inpatient hospital in January 2018. Qatar Foundation, a quasi-government organization, allotted a massive $7.9 billion budget for the hospital's construction. It first selected the center's contractors in 2008 but in 2014 assigned new contractors to complete the project. Biomedical research first began at Sidra in 2015. Outpatient care facilities and services were inaugurated in May 2016; as of 2018 there are at least 50 outpatient facilities. Throughout 2017, more than 25,000 people were treated at the hospital's outpatient clinic. On 14 January 2018, Sidra launched its inpatient hospital with 400 beds, treating 10 patients on its initial day of opening. The hospital is expected to become fully commissioned sometime in 2018, after the construction of an emergency department and the addition of further services.
