Job Description

As a Pulmonologist, you will diagnose and treat diseases and conditions associated with the lungs. This includes examining patients, eliciting medical history, analyzing reports and test results, and prescribing treatment or medication as necessary. Additionally, you will refer patients to ancillary and consultant services when indicated, including admission and work-up of medical patients to medical wards and ICU as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform professional duties in adherence to the Delineation of Privileges based on individual efficiency and skills.

  • Respond to in-patient consultations from medical or other in-patient services.

  • Order diagnostic laboratory and X-ray examinations, determine diagnosis, prescribe therapy, and administer preventive medicine.

  • Stay updated on latest techniques, procedures, and therapy by reviewing journals and textbooks.

  • Participate in continuing in-service training programs, physician's conferences, and other relevant activities.

  • Ensure proper practice of infection control guidelines in all clinical areas.

  • Stay current with emergency techniques and participate in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation programs.

  • Attend staff meetings, weekly rounds, and participate in in-service activities such as Morbidity & Mortality conferences and Peer Reviews.

  • Perform additional duties as designated by the Head of the Department.

  • Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures, cooperating with hospital management to ensure compliance.

  • Familiarize with emergency and evacuation procedures and notify OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues, assisting with the preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.

  • Comply with waste management procedures and policies and attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.

  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship.

  • Post-graduate degree in Pulmonology from a recognized medical college.

  • At least five (5) years of practice as a Pulmonologist after certification.

  • Excellent command of oral and written English; knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.

  • Highly skilled in the field of practice with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership.

  • Thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedures, including confidentiality obligations.

  • Current licensure in country of origin and HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients, and families.
