Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Perform nucleic acid extraction.

  • Perform manual and automated extraction and purification of DNA/RNA from various clinical specimens, including blood, tissue, and bone marrow.

  • Ability to independently prepare DNA libraries for high-throughput sequencing and utilize sequencing platforms for basic genomic analysis.

  • Operate and troubleshoot Next Generation Sequencing equipment.

  • Perform PCR (including RT-PCR and fluorescent PCR).

  • Perform QA/QC procedures and documentation.

  • Perform troubleshooting to solve problems as they arise.

  • Assist with training of laboratory medical technicians in new methods to implement clinical testing and workflows.

  • Assist in maintaining CAP/ISO Standards and working with the quality department to keep the laboratory in compliance with regulations as they relate to test validation.

  • Reading of pertinent literature related to the specialty to maintain current knowledge in this dynamic, rapidly evolving, field.

  • Ensure validity of laboratory data reported.

  • Participate in validation activities and participate in daily operation of the lab platforms.

  • Participate in experimental design and instrument set-up.

  • Public Contribute to maintaining a Quality environment and participate actively in SOP writing and revision.

  • Develop next-generation sequencing sample prep methods, both by utilizing standard molecular biology processes and creating novel solutions.

  • Coordinate and support all stages of the transition of new products from development to product release, such as validating processes, establishing quality controls.

  • Perform duties assigned by Line manager.

  • Aware of GCLP and GCP that apply to their work and be fully aware of the function they are to perform.

  • Responsible for recording raw data promptly, accurately and in compliance with GCLP and are responsible for the quality of their data.

  • Responsible for following the instructions given in the clinical protocol, analytical plans, and SOPs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Medical Laboratory or other related majors is preferred.

  • Experience in automated workstation system.

  • Fluent in English oral and written.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Molecular Biology with genomics background.

  • Experience in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or Microarray techniques preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in genomics.

  • Experience in CAP or ISO15189 certified laboratory is preferred.

  • DOH License.
