Pharmacist III

Responsibilities:

• Prepares and dispenses medications (sterile and non-sterile), including chemotherapy drugs, following strict protocols and pharmacy guidelines.

• Reviews and verifies medication orders for accuracy, dosage appropriateness, potential interactions, and adherence to patient allergies and lab results.

• Operates and maintains pharmacy automation equipment (where applicable).

• Compounds and double-checks medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

• Maintains tight controls on all medications, including narcotics and controlled substances.

• Accurately dispenses medication and maintains detailed records as required by law.

• Pre-packages medications using automated equipment and ensures proper labeling.

• Monitors the work of pharmacy assistants, residents, and trainees, providing guidance and support as needed.

• Manages inventory levels, ensuring sufficient stock and monitoring expiration dates.

• Disposes of expired medications safely and following regulations.

• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.

• Distributes medications to nursing units as required.

• Conducts regular inspections of nursing units and pharmacy stock to identify and address outdated supplies.

• Participates in performance improvement projects and quality initiatives.

• Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.

• Continuously seeks opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (required).

• No prior experience required (training provided).
