Medical Technologist

Responsibilities:

1. Perform a variety of chemical, microscopic, immunological, and/or bacteriological testing in the Clinical Laboratory to obtain accurate data for diagnosis and treatment of disease.

2. Organize daily work congruent with schedules and work patterns of the subsection/section. Assist section supervisor in disseminating information across shifts and sections. Ensure optimum levels of supplies are available and assist in ordering supplies.

3. Assist in evaluating new methodologies/equipment and revising policy and procedure manuals. Obtain and process laboratory specimens, perform analyses, tests, and procedures while maintaining laboratory safety procedures.

4. Maintain records, operate and maintain laboratory equipment, and participate in Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs.

5. Provide ongoing feedback to Hospital employee performance appraisal system. Train, provide continuing education, and guide students and other healthcare personnel.

Detailed Description:

• Bachelor’s or Associate Degree/Diploma in Medical Technology is required.

• Grade 08: Two (2) years of related experience with Bachelor’s or four (4) years of related experience with Associate Degree/Diploma is required.

• Grade 09: Four (4) years as Medical Technologist at KFSH&RC. Average annual performance appraisal score of at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years. Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].

• Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required. Registration in MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), or equivalent for American, ART or Medical Technologist for Canadian, AIMLS for British, AIMS for Australian, NZIMLT for New Zealander, or registered Medical Technologist for other international country is required.

• Comply with section policies, procedures, and protocols. Follow the section quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA, and other international accreditation agencies standards.

• Follow all Hospital related policies and procedures.

• Participate in self and others’ education, training, and development.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.
