Materials Engineer

About the Role:

As a Materials Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the quality and performance of materials used in our civil infrastructure projects. You'll be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

• Material Approvals & Mix Design:

  • Obtain approvals for all material submittals.

  • Develop and prepare asphalt and concrete mix designs.

  • Secure approvals from consultants and ensure proper production at the asphalt plant.

• Quality Control & Inspection:

  • Interact with consultants and clients regarding construction activities and material quality standards.

  • Control non-conforming materials and inspect all incoming materials for site use.

  • Maintain all quality management documents, including plans, inspections, test records, and checklists.

• Technical Expertise & Communication:

  • Develop, modify, test, and evaluate materials.

  • Provide technical advice on material suitability and diagnose material faults.

  • Plan, organize, and oversee inspections, maintenance, and repairs.

  • Liaise with suppliers, clients, and manufacturing/development staff.

  • Offer technical information and data to the engineering team.

• Testing & Reporting:

  • Conduct and interpret in-depth fracture analysis and prepare technical reports.

  • Maintain cycle time objectives for your area of responsibility.

  • Address material and process concerns from various stakeholders.

  • Update material logs and conduct testing at external sources.

  • Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to identify problems and develop solutions.

• Material Management & Improvement:

  • Conduct or supervise tests on raw materials and finished products.

  • Design and oversee testing/control of processing procedures.

  • Determine appropriate construction methods for different materials.

  • Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration.

  • Plan and implement laboratory operations to develop material testing procedures that meet project specifications and performance standards.

  • Review material submittals and recommend selections based on project requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (required).

• Familiarity with Abu Dhabi standards and regulations for civil infrastructure works (required).

• At least 10 years of overall experience in materials engineering (required).

• Minimum 5 years of experience working on civil infrastructure projects in the UAE (preferred).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
