Job Description
Join AECOM's 2024 Graduate Program.
Are you passionate about geological and rock engineering and eager to launch your career with a global leader in infrastructure consulting? AECOM is seeking a motivated graduate to join our team as a Graduate Engineer - Geological/Rock Engineering in our Dubai office. This role is part of our prestigious 2024 Graduate Program, offering the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, gain exposure to diverse projects, and develop essential skills in geotechnical design and analysis.
Responsibilities & Duties
Develops designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and project models as per specific discipline requirements. Works on drawings under the supervision of an experienced Engineer.
Assists with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality outputs under project timelines.
Under Supervision, performs work following the agreed-upon budget and schedule.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems.
Coordinates with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.
Participates in design progress and coordination meetings.
Actively seeks information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develops efficiencies and effectiveness.
Contributes by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.
Candidate Specifics
The candidate should have an interest in developing their skills in several of the following areas.
Site reconnaissance and geological mapping,
Rock mechanics and rock mass classification systems,
Computer-aided geological mapping and geological ground models including profile and cross section preferably through AutoCAD/ ARCGIS and/ or software such as Leapfrog,
Rock slope stability, specifically rock fall analysis,
Rockfall mitigation design through software, preparing corresponding specs and drawings,
Rock slope support design for open cuts,
Utilizing RocScience suits including Rocfall 2D and/or 3D, Dips, RocPlane, Swedge, Topple, RSdata and RocSlide,
Geotechnical Investigations (including in-situ and laboratory testing),
Geohazard assessment,
Assessment of Rock Parameters
Experience in Leapfrog software,
Terrain hazard assessment,
Hydrogeology,
Foundation Design on Rock
Excavation Design
Tunnel Design
Cavern Design
Seismic design
Geotechnics of dam design
There will be the opportunity to gain experience in the use of some of the following software packages:
RocScience Suite:
RocFall 2D or 3D,
Dips,
RocPlane,
SWedge,
RocTopple,
RSData,
Slide2 or Slide3 (alternatively Slope W),
AutoCAD,
ArcGIS.

This role is ideal for someone is interested in a blend of design and hands-on site experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in one or more of the following subjects from an accredited University:
Geotechnical Engineering
Civil Engineering
Engineering Geology
Geological Engineering
Foundation Engineering
Soil Mechanics
Rock Mechanics
Rock Engineering
Mining Engineering
Candidates must be recent graduates, having graduated within the last 24 months or no later than September 2024, to be eligible for AECOM's Graduate Program.
Successful applicants must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.3 or 2:1 (or equivalent) and above.
If you hold a Master's Degree, it should have started within 12 months of completing your Bachelor's Degree to ensure continuous education and meet program requirements.
Candidates with more than 1 year of postgraduate work experience are not eligible for the program and are encouraged to apply for our professional-level roles instead.
