ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Key Responsibilities
Review structural engineering design packages (buildings and other structures) across the whole NEOM’s projects’ portfolio, to ensure compliance with NEOM’s procedures, guidelines, local and international engineering codes and standards.
Address technical queries regarding interpretation and use of NEOM’s, local and international structural engineering codes & standards.
Produce technical reports and recommendations when required.
Plan, oversee, and manage structural engineering tasks as instructed by/in coordination with ETSD Management.
Help maintain database of current engineering codes and standards and make available NEOM-wide via ETSD portal.
Review applications for deviations from NEOM’s Plan of Work and advise sectors and regions for submitting requests for approval.
Review and continually update NEOM’s procedures, guidelines, and manuals based on operational requirements and the technical needs and strategies of NEOM’s departments and sectors.
Interact with local and international code authorities and institutions such as SBC, IBC, ACI, ASCE, AISC, PCI and PTI.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure that all reviews are conducted smoothly and efficiently.
Make presentations to ETSD and other departments and sectors.
Lead and participate in technical workshops for NEOM employees.
Support TCD teammates to effectively improve team performance.
Help create a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
Experience
Minimum 20 years’ post-graduate structural engineering design experience in a consultancy environment.
Design and review of a wide variety of building typologies using various structural materials in accordance with applicable SBC, IBC, ACI, ASCE, AISC, PCI and PTI Code and Standards and other practice regulations.
Structural design development and review across all design stages of structures with various complexities using a combination of materials – reinforced concrete, structural steel and composite. Design experience in high-rise and super high-rise structures (over 300m) will be an added benefit.
Experience providing technical support to construction activities and review of technical submittals.
Experience performing design calculations and preparing design reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
Design experience on projects constructed in the Middle East is preferred.
Knowledge
Strong understanding of building structures, their stability and load transfer systems
Excellent understanding in the analyses and performance of Building Structures under various loading conditions with a specific emphasis on seismic and wind applications.
Knowledge of performance-based analyses methods will be considered as an added benefit.
General knowledge and orientation in latest trends in structural engineering, innovation, technology, and construction techniques.
Skills
Proficiency in English (required)
Proficiency in Arabic (optional)
Excellent technical and business writing skills
Familiarity with using the latest structural engineering analyses and design software such as ETABS, SAP 2000, STAAD PRO, ROBOT, MIDAS, etc.
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Highly collaborative, open mindset and strong communication skills
Ability to build effective working relations with multiple stakeholders within and outside NEOM
Proven track record of leading and managing teams with strong ability to prioritize tasks in a highly dynamic environment
High affinity to standards, technology, and innovation
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines
Qualifications
Bachelor’s and/or higher degree in Civil-Structural Engineering from an accredited university
Membership in recognized Association/Institution of Engineers
Membership of the Saudi Council of Engineers (or obtain on commencement – for external applicants)
