Job Description

WSP is a global leader in engineering and professional services, and they are seeking a qualified commercial manager to join their team in the Middle East. You will be responsible for providing strategic commercial leadership and support for theme park development projects in Khobar and Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

About the Role

In this role, you will play a key role in ensuring the commercial success of WSP's theme park projects. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Participating in regular project reviews to identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.

  • Developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.

  • Leading all contractual matters, including contract compliance, change management, cost reporting, and claims mitigation.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective contract management processes and procedures.

  • Overseeing all bonds, warranties, insurances, and other undertakings to ensure they align with project requirements and client interests.

  • Evaluating and negotiating claims and variations submitted by contractors.

  • Proactively managing all commercial risks associated with the projects.

  • Assisting the legal team in finalizing contract terms with clients and subcontractors.

  • Analyzing financial accounts and reports to assess working capital risks and revenue recognition.

  • Collaborating with the working capital team to resolve disputed invoices and expedite payments.

  • Partnering with the bid support team and business unit leaders to develop competitive bids with optimal scope, conditions, payment terms, risk management, and opportunity identification.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying with a strong foundation in contracts, law, or commercial practices (required).

  • Membership in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) (preferred).

  • Minimum of 15 years of post-qualification experience in a similar commercial management role (required).

  • Demonstrated expertise in contract administration for high-value projects (required).

  • Strong understanding and experience with FIDIC contracts, particularly FIDIC Gold (preferred).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook (required).

  • In-depth knowledge of contract principles, theory, application, terminology, development, practices, and procedures (required).

  • Experience with claims management and providing support for arbitration processes (a plus).

  • Ethical, credible, and commercially astute business acumen (required).

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment (required).

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented with a strong work ethic (required).

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (required).

  • Prior experience working on Theme Park PMC projects (a plus).
