Job Description
Vanderlande is seeking a highly motivated Site Manager to play a critical role in the successful delivery of our baggage handling system projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Site Planning & Coordination:
Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop comprehensive project installation plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
Quality & Risk Management:
Oversee installation quality, timelines, and costs to ensure adherence to standards and budgets.
Proactively identify and address potential risks and opportunities to optimize project outcomes.
Provide timely updates to stakeholders on project progress and potential issues.
Stakeholder Management:
Facilitate smooth communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals.
Deliver regular progress reports to customers and Project Managers.
Contract & Compliance Management:
Advise and oversee contracts with electrical and mechanical subcontractors, guaranteeing compliance with project specifications.
Process Improvement:
Uphold the Vanderlande Process Map and actively seek ways to improve site management processes for increased efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement within the project team, implementing best practices to optimize results.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and mentor a team of supervisors throughout the project lifecycle, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and practices.
Commissioning Support:
Organize and facilitate support activities for a smooth handover to commissioning and testing teams.
Responsibilities also include:
Analyze projects and prepare site logistics proposals.
Assess areas for installation readiness and create detailed site plans.
Oversee installation, handover of steelwork, and manage leftover materials.
Manage electrical and mechanical installations, including inspections and testing.
Conduct field wiring and safety-related tests before and after power-on.
Perform I/O tests, mechanical static inspections, and oversee power-up procedures.
Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
You will be accountable for deliverables such as:
As-built notes, building area ready reports, and various checklists to ensure project quality and adherence to standards.
Compiling defect and snag lists, along with conducting electrical and field wiring tests to verify system integrity.
Issuing handover certificates and permits to load.
Generating reports like I/O test reports and power-up protocol test reports.
Establishing and maintaining the project setup in Pro-Track, overseeing packing list preparation and verification.
Developing and managing site logistics and management plans, including conducting toolbox meetings and preparing weekly progress and safety reports.
Ensuring timely delivery of operation and maintenance manuals to clients upon project completion.
You will also be consulted in activities like:
Checking project area readiness for commissioning and installation/testing stages.
Verifying entry criteria for commissioning and installation & testing stages.
Collaborating on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) plans.
Collecting HSE plans from subcontractors.
Developing the initial master schedule and creating the installation file.
Requesting quotes from supply centers and updating project schedules.
Handling sales requests for supply centers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field.
7-10 years of hands-on experience in automated material handling or baggage handling system projects.
Proven success in site management and leadership roles overseeing the installation of material handling systems.
Expertise in electrical and mechanical installation processes, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and quality standards.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders, subcontractors, and project teams.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and transfer knowledge to team members, developing the skills of new engineers.
