Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Study Group is looking for a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Year 1 Program Leader at Bahrain.

Reporting to the SG University Partnership Director, this role involves providing academic, operational, and commercial leadership for all Year 1 programs, supported by relevant academic and administrative management teams.

The successful candidate will lead the Heads of Subject in delivering these programs, ensuring effective alignment in operational and academic management matters.

Additionally, the role includes optimizing staff resources to contribute to our medium and long-term goals, liaising with Heads of School and their nominees to ensure effective communication, and implementing appropriate academic policies.

This position also involves representing Study Group on relevant Academic Sub-committees to maintain consistency in academic standards and provision in alignment with academic regulations .

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership, management, and personal development

  • Lead and motivate Year 1 academic staff to contribute to ensuring the best possible student outcomes and student experience.

  • Contribute to developing, communicating, and enacting the strategy and priorities in alignment with UK ISC.

  • Create and regularly update the Account Management Plan and other strategic documents, to ensure their currency.

  • Identify, agree, and implement improvements to the student journey through the use of technology in alignment with relevant parties.

  • Provide effective performance management of direct reports, including setting outcomes, personal objectives and KPIs; regularly reviewing performance of direct reports; and conducting formal performance reviews according to company policy and procedures.

  • Facilitate, encourage, and support staff to participate in regular continuous professional development activity.

  • Recruit new staff for Year 1 programs as required according to Study Group policies and procedures and ensure that the programs delivered are resourced at all times.

  • Actively lead the Management Team.

  • Plan and undertake regular personal development as agreed with the SG University Partnership Director.

  • Ensure that staff feedback mechanisms are effectively used to ensure that staff are retained and developed and would recommend Study Group as a place to work.

  • Representation on key joint committees as directed.

  • Where appropriate, and through negotiation be a member of strategic groups.

Academic and Operational Management

  • Lead the planning, management, and delivery of all the Yr 1 academic programs and courses to ensure the best possible student outcomes and student experience.

  • Set the framework for and oversee the allocation of teaching resources, ensuring that teaching and learning activities are planned and delivered within an agreed budget and meet operational margins.

  • Ensure that teaching resources are planned and allocated in suitable time before the start of each term.

  • Drive efficiency through the reduction of non-value adding activity.

  • Ensure that effective processes are in place for the recruitment of academic staff and ensure that all academic staff are suitably qualified to teach sessions and courses on which they are scheduled.

  • To own and effectively manage the agreed budget allocated for Yr 1 provision at ISC.

Academic Standards, Quality Assurance and Enhancement

  • Lead on ensuring that the design and delivery of all courses are conducted with reference to and according to Study Group’s, partner universities and relevant external agencies’ quality frameworks, policies, procedures, and codes of practice. This includes the production and delivery of such documentation as is required by Study Group’s Student Success Directory/Registry on an Annual or ad hoc basis.

  • Ensure that processes are in place for the effective design and implementation of appropriate, fair, and secure assessment activities on all courses and ensure all students receive effective assessment feedback.

  • Lead on ensuring the implementation of actions from the Action Plan of the annual monitoring report and report regularly on progress against actions in the Action Plan.

  • Ensure high levels of progression are achieved for students across all modules, courses, and programs, with particular attention to attrition and completion.

  • Analyze data and feedback from a wide variety of sources to monitor progress towards progression targets, planning and implementing remedial actions where necessary, supporting the relevant ISC teams to achieve this.

  • Produce Annual Monitoring Reports for submission to relevant parties

  • Provide reports, data and recommendations to key partnership meetings and Provider management and academic governance meetings.

  • Ensure that high quality service levels are delivered to students and other stakeholders, and that student satisfaction remains at a high level.

Course approval, changes, and programmed oversight

  • Lead on preparing new courses for validation and approval, and existing courses for re-validation and/or re-approval in alignment with procedure.

  • Lead on proposing course changes to the relevant committee or group.

  • Ensure course design also focuses on efficiency and viability of modules and programs.

  • Ensure that new courses are designed to meet existing programs academic requirements.

Partnership Management

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key contacts, ensuring a full understanding of relevant curriculum content, assessment modes and quality policies and procedures.

  • Facilitate interaction between partner staff and ISC academic and student experience staff to ensure the best possible transition for students.

  • Attend and represent SG at governance and management meetings with the partner as agreed with the ISC Director or Deputy Director, providing presentations, information, and data analysis.

  • Act as one of the key representatives in the relationship, interacting with and leveraging relations.

  • Ensure that SG has access to key data on the performance of students once they have progressed to the partner.

  • Play a key role in managing Study Group’s reputation.

Qualifications & Training:

  • Master’s degree (Essential)

  • Teaching qualification (Essential)

  • Leadership and management training (Essential)

Experience Required:

  • Leadership and management experience in a teaching and learning environment.

  • Experience of teaching in UK higher or further education

  • Experience of leading and facilitating change

  • Experience of teaching international students

  • Experience of working in and leading in digitally enabled environments

  • Experience of planning and running complex education courses and programmed

  • Experience of partnership working or partnership management in the education sector

  • Experience of budget development and management

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to operate within quality assurance frameworks or to quality codes.

  • Ability to analyze data and identify areas for improvement from the data.

  • Ability to lead a diverse team of academic professionals.

  • Flexibility and willingness to work to tight deadlines.

  • Student-centered approach to planning and delivering educational services.
