KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Evaluates effective and suitable psychological treatment options of common mental health problems and discusses with clinical supervisor before implementing.
Consistent with one's training, scope, and clinical skill/knowledge, provides psychological assessments for patients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of psychological data from a variety of sources including, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
Provides clinical formulations and comprehensive written reports regarding assessments completed. All reports will be countersigned by clinical supervisor.
Provides clinical psychological input to the families, including assessment results and proposed psychological interventions for psychological, behavioral and learning challenges.
Formulates and implements plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a psychological problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the problems, and employing methods of proven efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
Implements a range of psychological interventions, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
Evaluates treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual.
May provide on call coverage under supervision.
Reviews relevant school and/or other medical records to understand cases better.
Provides psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to patient's formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
Keeps abreast with current literature, talks with colleagues, and participates in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in psychological counselling, developmental psychology, mental illness/ emotional disturbance.
Provides group therapy for children, adults and families, in both inpatient and outpatient settings as needed. Makes sure that patient participation and input is integrated with the overall treatment plan.
Maintains confidentiality with regards to information exchanged or received in the current capacity of role in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Provides psychological services (e.g., assessment, intervention, consultation) with cultural competence appropriate to a wide variety of ethnic, linguistic, and religious populations.
Engages in peer consultation and multidisciplinary meetings in order to improve clinical care and to maintain ongoing professional standards.
Adheres to Sidra Medicine's standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
Adheres to and promotes Sidra's Values.
In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS - SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIAL
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, or any mental health related field, OR
Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field, including coursework on human behavior and development, OR
Current Enrollment in a Master's degree program in Psychology or a mental health related field, OR
Master's degree in Psychology or a mental health related field
Experience
2+ years post-graduation or certification of supervised experience working as an Assistant Psychologist or in the same field.
For Qatar Universities' Graduates, Qatari Nationals, or Residents' offspring / spouses who are graduated abroad: Minimum 3 months of supervised internship experience working in a mental health clinic, hospital, school, research lab, or private center (please refer to QCHP circular No. 1/2016.)
Certification and Licensure Eligible for appropriate license in State of Qatar.

Sidra Medicine is a 400-bed women's and children's hospital, medical education and biomedical research center in Doha, Qatar. The hospital first opened its outpatient facility in 2016, followed by its inpatient hospital in January 2018. Qatar Foundation, a quasi-government organization, allotted a massive $7.9 billion budget for the hospital's construction. It first selected the center's contractors in 2008 but in 2014 assigned new contractors to complete the project. Biomedical research first began at Sidra in 2015. Outpatient care facilities and services were inaugurated in May 2016; as of 2018 there are at least 50 outpatient facilities. Throughout 2017, more than 25,000 people were treated at the hospital's outpatient clinic. On 14 January 2018, Sidra launched its inpatient hospital with 400 beds, treating 10 patients on its initial day of opening. The hospital is expected to become fully commissioned sometime in 2018, after the construction of an emergency department and the addition of further services.
