Job Description
The Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) Diagnostic Laboratory (DL) at Qatar Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Equine Veterinary Pathologist to join our team!
Summary:
In this role, you will play a vital role in supporting the diagnosis of equine diseases by analyzing and interpreting a wide range of laboratory tests. You will contribute to maintaining high-quality diagnostic services, participate in research, and provide expertise to the DL team and the broader EVMC community.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostic Pathology:
Analyze and interpret laboratory tests (hematology, biochemistry, histopathology, immunohistochemistry, etc.) for equine disease diagnosis.
Evaluate cytology specimens from various sources (body fluids, bronchoalveolar lavage, effusions, etc.).
Review and refine existing laboratory test methodologies.
Develop and validate new laboratory tests.
Quality & Training:
Assist the DL Manager in maintaining turnaround times for laboratory tests.
Help resolve and troubleshoot discrepancies in laboratory results.
Conduct internal training for DL staff on routine laboratory procedures.
Assist with DL accreditation processes through SOP and laboratory manual review.
Participate in validation studies.
Knowledge Sharing & Research:
Act as a reference point for the DL team on various laboratory assays.
Conduct independent and collaborative research on equine veterinary science.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Support veterinarians, scientists, and students in their research endeavors.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
Minimum 5 years of experience in veterinary pathology with a focus on equine diagnostics.
Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP), European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP), or a similar recognized body in veterinary pathology.
Experience in both clinical and anatomical pathology (advantageous).
Excellent written and communication skills for report drafting, scientific publications, and clear communication.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Arabic language proficiency (advantageous).
