Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide domain knowledge input during the pre-purchase stage of all biomedical equipment.

  • Perform inspection, inventory procedures, and machine marking for incoming new equipment before use.

  • Offer technical assistance, training, and instruction to staff on equipment maintenance and operation.

  • Conduct regular rounds and systematic preventive maintenance of all biomedical equipment, ensuring immediate rectification of any problems.

  • Maintain an updated inventory of all biomedical equipment in the hospital.

  • Analyze equipment for failure, faults, or malfunctions using test instruments and technical literature.

  • Interpret engineering and vendor information, schematic diagrams, and graphic illustrations.

  • Provide engineering and technical advice to ensure compliance with safety standards and prepare required reports.

  • Coordinate and evaluate the work performed by service contractors, including maintenance, calibration, installation, and verification.

  • Prepare and enter data in logs, reports, databases, forms, and equipment records regarding inspections, repairs, and equipment condition.

  • Conduct safety and risk assessments with the FMS teams and develop countermeasures.

  • Prepare requisitions for spare parts procurement from stores/manufacturer.

  • Liaise with other departments and higher management.

  • Manage and develop vendors, particularly those who can repair PCBs and major assemblies.

  • Actively contribute to the development of manuals, policies, and procedures relevant to the biomedical department as a member of the FMS committee.

  • Collect monitoring data for the medical equipment management program.

  • Develop and coordinate departmental quality initiatives.

  • Adhere to hospital safety norms, patient safety, and staff safety rules.

  • Update biomedical knowledge by attending seminars and workshops on new equipment.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Medical Administrator.

Qualifications:

  • B.E. (Biomedical) or Masters of applied Science in Bio-Medical Instrumentation or Equivalent Degree/Fellowship.

  • Two years of experience in maintenance involving applications, preferably in Medical Electronics.

  • Good knowledge of English to read and understand technical literature and schematics.

  • Proficient in computer skills like Word and Excel.
