Associate Scientist

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Research Scientist to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will design and conduct research projects with minimal supervision, write scientific papers and reports, present data in meetings and seminars, and provide new scientific or managerial capabilities to the research unit. This role also involves supervising research technicians, trainees, and students.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research Execution:

   • Conduct advanced independent and/or directed research to achieve project objectives.

   • Develop new methods and technologies necessary for project advancement.

2. Manuscript and Grant Writing:

   • Participate in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations.

   • Search for funding opportunities and write grant applications.

3. Training and Supervision:

   • Teach research techniques to others; train and oversee technicians, students, and/or fellows.

4. Professional Development:

   • Engage in appropriate training and professional development to enhance skills and research independence.

5. Laboratory Management:

   • Assist in overseeing the laboratory, including maintaining supplies, equipment, and ordering necessary materials.

   • Follow all laboratory safety rules and regulations.

6. Policy Adherence:

   • Follow all hospital-related policies and procedures.

7. Education and Development:

   • Participate in self and others' education, training, and development, as applicable.

8. Additional Duties:

   • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Science (DSc) degree from an accredited institution in a scientific discipline relevant to the research field.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of directly related post-doctoral experience.

• Scientific Productivity:

  • Evidence of scientific productivity during postdoctoral training, including publications as a first author in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Role as a co-investigator in at least two (2) ongoing research projects.

  • Proven records of presenting original data at national or international meetings.

• Supervisory Skills:

  • Evidence of mentoring ability and supervisory skills for students and technical staff.
