Job Description

As a Lead Design Architect, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and innovative projects in the region. Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a team of highly skilled architects and designers, fostering creativity, collaboration, and excellence in design.

  • Developing and presenting building concept designs in line with the client's brief and to the client's satisfaction, whether for competitions, proposals or delivery jobs. 

  • Oversee the entire design process, from initial sketches and 3D modeling to construction documentation, ensuring adherence to budgets, schedules, and quality standards.

  • Collaborate closely with clients, engineers, contractors, and consultants to translate design concepts into feasible and sustainable architectural solutions.

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, materials, and technologies in the architectural field, infusing innovation into all aspects of the design process.

  • Conduct site visits and provide expert guidance during the construction phase, ensuring the integrity and fidelity of the design vision.

  • Act as a key representative of our firm, fostering strong relationships with clients, and help with the winning work.

  • Provide support and design leadership for other GHD offices from time to time.

  • Work with Project Directors, Project Managers, and others to satisfactorily deliver projects.

  • Establish project delivery strategy and work with the Project Manager in developing the job plan, quality plan, securing resources, establishing work briefs and budgets.

  • Organize and carry out peer reviews across disciplines for feedback and comment during concept development and prior to submission

  • Introduction of work practices that increase efficiency, productivity and job satisfaction for staff.

  • Direct technical performance on projects, monitor adherence to the Quality Plan and take corrective action as required.

  • Invite client feedback as appropriate to verify client needs being met.

  • Monitor financial performance and productivity on jobs.

  • Liaise with Business Group Managers in the allocation of resources and staffing of projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture.

  • Minimum of 12- 15 years of experience in design architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong design skills, with a focus on innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing design solutions.

  • Proven experience as a lead architect, showcasing a portfolio of successfully executed architectural projects.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Extensive knowledge of local / International building codes, regulations, and construction practices.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team of architects and designers.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex design concepts to diverse stakeholders.

  • A keen eye for detail, an unwavering commitment to quality, and an aptitude for problem-solving.

  • Focus on client experience and understanding of client needs.

  • Able to direct several jobs at once and determine priorities.

  • Understand and adhere to GHD’s values, Codes of Conduct, and Policies.

  • Client satisfaction, repeat and new business, client awareness of design quality and robustness of technical solutions.

  • Delivery of designs to international standards of design excellence.

  • Demonstration of added value to projects.

  • Teamwork, cooperation, open communication, training and knowledge transfer to Team Members.

  • Absence of professional indemnity issues.

  • Productive use of chargeable time for self and others.

  • Implementation of an individual Action Plan developed during the annual performance review.

  • Oversight of compliance with GHD’s OHS&R Management System.
