Senior Hydrodynamic and Coastal Modeler
Purpose
This position is primarily responsible for professional services, focusing on development, implementation, and interpretation of hydrodynamic and coastal models. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, to develop mitigation strategies to avoid, minimize and manage environmental issues in the coastal zone.
Key Duties
Interacting with engineers and approvals specialists to provide innovative solutions to marine and aquatic ecological issues,
Analyse met-ocean/oceanographic water quality data,
Undertake dredging and other water quality and hydrodynamic modelling,
Provision of environmental and ecology advice to clients,
Contributing to the preparation of high-quality proposals and technical reports following relevant standards and guidelines and as per the requirements set out in the winning work cycle, or as per regional workflows.
Project management and coordination, collaborating effectively with project stakeholders to ensure successful client experience in project delivery.
Marketing including the development and submission of proposals for routine, low risk projects which at times may involve influencing internal and external stakeholders.
Communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and subcontractors, providing clear and concise information and recommendations.
Provide creative solutions to fit the needs of our clients and communities.
Liaise and engage in client interactions for day-to-day delivery of professional services, including attending technical and project-based meetings.
Coordinating the work of the team, mentoring junior team members, fostering their professional growth and career development.
Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices, participating in continuous learning and professional development activities.
Performance Indicators
On time project delivery that satisfies the client's requirements and GHD CX Way (Client Experience) which improves client relationships and strengthens repeat business.
Demonstrate technical knowledge through successful project execution and innovative design solutions.
Carrying out delegated tasks within allocated budget hours and time frame.
Adhere to GHD's enterprise-wide governance requirements including Quality, Project Management, Health Safety and Environment systems.
Experience and Knowledge
Bachelor degree qualifications in an environmental science or similar with exposure to Oceanographic and Marine Ecological Studies.
5+ years experience as a marine hydrodynamic modeller .
Proven experience in project management of multidisciplinary teams and in supervision of junior team members.
Experience with dredging and other water quality modelling.
Experienced analyst of met ocean/oceanographic water quality data.
Efficient data management, mathematical and data analysis competencies.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Strong analytical and writing skills, including experience in the preparation of reports for clients and or regulators.
