Principal Engineer - HSE Design

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified Principal Engineer (Safety and Environment Study Expert) to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and environmental compliance of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the delivery of Safety (HSEIA) and Environmental Studies by coordinating with external consultants.

• Ensure the technical accuracy of safety study reports, including FERA, QRA, EERA, ESSA, etc.

• Facilitate timely safety study workshops (HAZID, ENVID, OHID, etc.).

• Monitor project schedules and ensure efficient completion of design activities.

• Support construction and commissioning teams with technical justifications and calculations.

• Review HSE design basis documents, fire protection plans, equipment specifications, layouts, and hazardous area classifications.

• Provide design input for building locations, fireproofing requirements, and safety equipment placement.

• Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure HSE considerations are integrated into project design.

• Manage procurement processes for specialist studies and safety equipment.

• Coordinate effectively with clients, regulatory bodies, consultants, and project stakeholders.

• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and commissioning activities for safety systems.

• Review and approve vendor documents and ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required).

• 15+ years of experience in loss prevention and process safety within the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) industry (required).

• Experience with ADNOC projects (preferred).

• Proficiency in safety study software (PHAST/FRED, SAFETI, Bow-Tie, etc.) and engineering design tools (Pipenet, ExSILentia, etc.) (preferred).

• Strong understanding of international safety standards and practices (required).

• Excellent presentation, training, and communication skills (required).

• Effective time management and prioritization skills (required).

• Strong written English communication skills (required).
