Job Description
Purpose
The Buyer will manage the procurement of materials and goods for the organisation, for resale purposes, negotiate pricing and ensure timely delivery of goods and continuity of supply. Analyzes market trends and develops strategies to optimize procurement processes. and the company clients’ needs are met.
Responsibilities
- Analyze market trends, pricing, and quality of products to ensure the best value products are sourced for our customers.
- Collaborate with other departments to forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distribution of goods.
- Research and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships with vendors.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock and minimize waste.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Continuously gather, analyse, interpret, and act upon market intelligence.
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to improve profitability.
- Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organisational targets and requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualification in Procurement, supply chain or similar is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in buying of Wholesale and Retail products
- Strong negotiation skills
- Deliver briefs, updates and reports as and when required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software
- Proven track record of cost savings and process improvement initiatives
- Experience in vendor management and supplier relationship management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
