Job Description
The Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality education to students, ensuring their academic progress, and fostering a safe and conducive learning environment. The role involves planning and executing lessons, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues, parents, and external bodies to support student development.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching
Curriculum Delivery: Teach the curriculum appropriate to the age and ability of the students.
Preparation and Development: Prepare and develop teaching materials, programs, and pastoral arrangements.
Student Progress: Be accountable for the attainment, progress, and outcomes of the pupils.
Assessment and Monitoring: Use various strategies for observation, assessment, monitoring, and recording to set challenging learning objectives and track student progress.
Data Utilization: Use data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan subsequent lessons.
Differentiated Teaching: Understand and address the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs, gifted and talented, EAL, and disabilities.
High Standards of Literacy: Promote high standards of literacy, including correct spoken English.
Regular Feedback: Provide regular feedback through marking and oral communication, encouraging pupils to reflect on their progress and take responsibility for their learning.
Homework and Activities: Set homework and plan out-of-class activities to reinforce and extend pupils' knowledge and understanding.
Examinations and Assessments: Participate in examination and assessment arrangements as outlined in the teachers' manual.
Behavior and Safety
Classroom Environment: Establish a safe, purposeful, and stimulating environment rooted in mutual respect.
Class Management: Manage classes effectively using appropriate approaches to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
Positive Role Model: Demonstrate positive attitudes, values, and behavior consistently.
High Expectations: Promote self-control and independence in learners.
Safeguarding: Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, following school protocols for raising concerns.
Team Working and Collaboration
Professional Development: Participate in relevant meetings and professional development opportunities.
Collaboration: Work as a team member, sharing effective practices and supporting colleagues.
Staff Development: Contribute to the selection and professional development of teachers and support staff.
Curriculum and Pastoral Activities: Engage in the review and management of curriculum and pastoral functions of the school.
Absence Coverage: Cover for absent colleagues as required.
Fulfill Wider Professional Responsibilities
Support Staff Deployment: Deploy support staff effectively.
Parent Communication: Communicate effectively with parents regarding pupil achievements and well-being.
External Communication: Cooperate with relevant external bodies.
School Life Contribution: Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
Administration
Attendance and Supervision: Register attendance and supervise learners before, during, or after school sessions as appropriate.
Administrative Tasks: Carry out administrative and organizational tasks as required.
Professional Development
Effectiveness Review: Regularly review and refine teaching and assessment procedures based on their impact on pupils' progress.
Ongoing Learning: Participate fully in training and development opportunities identified by the school or through appraisal outcomes.
Other Duties
Professional Conduct: Maintain high standards in attendance, punctuality, and adherence to school policies.
Additional Tasks: Perform reasonable duties as requested by the headteacher.
