Overview / Job Responsibilities
Teaching
Data-Driven Instruction: Use relevant data to monitor student progress, set targets, and plan subsequent lessons.
Homework and Activities: Set appropriate homework and plan out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend student learning.
Examinations and Assessments: Participate in examinations and assessments as outlined in the teachers' manual.
Student Progress Information: Use student progress information to improve teaching and learning, motivate students, inform parents, and provide necessary references for DSIB annual inspections and the School Board of Governors.
Understanding Diverse Needs: Recognize and address the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs, gifted and talented students, EAL learners, and those with disabilities. Evaluate and implement distinctive teaching approaches to support these students.
Promote Literacy Standards: Promote high standards of literacy, including correct spoken English.
Assessment Strategies: Use a range of observation, assessment, monitoring, and recording strategies to set challenging learning objectives, monitor progress, and secure student attainment.
Curriculum Delivery: Deliver the curriculum relevant to the age and ability group/subject(s) taught.
Teaching Preparation: Prepare and develop teaching materials, programs, and pastoral arrangements as needed.
Accountability: Be accountable for the attainment, progress, and outcomes of students.
Differentiated Teaching: Plan teaching by considering students' capabilities and prior knowledge, differentiating instruction appropriately.
Feedback: Provide regular feedback through accurate marking and oral communication, encouraging students to respond and reflect on their progress.
Behavior and Safety
Class Management: Establish a safe, purposeful, and stimulating environment rooted in mutual respect. Use praise, sanctions, and rewards consistently and fairly.
Effective Management: Manage classes effectively, using approaches appropriate to students' needs to inspire, motivate, and challenge them.
Positive Role Model: Demonstrate positive attitudes, values, and behavior consistently.
Behavior Expectations: Maintain high expectations of behavior, promoting self-control and independence among learners.
Safety and Welfare: Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people, following school protocols and procedures.

Cover for Absence: Cover for absent colleagues as required.

Administration
Attendance and Supervision: Register attendance and supervise students as appropriate.
Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative and organizational tasks as required by the teachers' manual.

Training Participation: Engage fully in training and development opportunities identified by the school or resulting from appraisals.
Review and Refine Practices: Regularly review and refine teaching and assessment procedures based on their effectiveness and feedback.
Other
Additional Duties: Perform reasonable duties as requested by the head teacher.
Professional Conduct: Maintain high standards of conduct and punctuality, adhering to school policies and practices.
