Position Overview

The Department of Islamic Studies seeks a full-time faculty member to teach across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year. The successful candidate will demonstrate a balance of traditional Islamic scholarship, pedagogical excellence, and academic depth. This role involves teaching, mentoring, and contributing to curriculum design in a collaborative, spiritually grounded academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses aligned with Ribaat’s integrated Islamic and liberal arts curriculum (average of seven courses per year)
  • Develop syllabi, lectures, and assessments rooted in Islamic epistemology and spiritual formation
  • Guide students in research, academic writing, and engagement with classical and contemporary texts
  • Deliver engaging, student-centered online instruction through the university’s learning management system (Canvas)
  • Contribute to curriculum development, program design, and accreditation preparation
  • Participate in scholarly research, writing, and applied community education initiatives
  • Attend faculty meetings, serve on committees, and contribute to institutional planning and growth
  • Model professionalism, adab, and mission alignment in all interactions

Qualifications

Required

  • PhD, ThD, or DPhil in Islamic Studies, Religious Studies, or a closely related field
  • Foundational training in traditional Islamic scholarship
  • Demonstrated commitment to spiritually grounded pedagogy and women’s leadership in Islamic scholarship

Preferred

  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
  • Record of scholarly publications or research contributions
  • Experience mentoring graduate or doctoral students
  • Familiarity with online teaching methods and digital learning tools
  • Strong command of Arabic and ability to teach from primary texts
  • Excellent research, writing, and cross-cultural communication skills

Location: Remote (Online)
Appointment Type: Full-Time Faculty
Compensation: $60,000–$70,000 USD
