Responsibilities:

• Regulatory Compliance and Advocacy:

  • Offer technical expertise on radioactive waste management regulations.

  • Collaborate with the team to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Waste Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement a waste management strategy aligned with operational needs and disposal plans.

  • Advise on waste characterization and categorization for effective handling.

• Waste Handling Best Practices:

  • Recommend safe practices for handling, packaging, and labeling radioactive waste.

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols to prevent contamination and protect personnel and the environment.

• Storage and Transportation Expertise:

  • Provide technical guidance on safe storage of waste within the facility.

  • Offer expertise on waste transportation logistics and safety for disposal.

• Procedure Review:

  • Review and recommend improvements to radioactive waste management procedures.

  • Focus on technical safety and regulatory compliance.

• Radiation Protection Consultation:

  • Advise on minimizing radiation exposure for waste management personnel.

  • Offer guidance on selecting protective equipment and monitoring technologies.

• Waste Minimization Strategies:

  • Identify opportunities for waste minimization, segregation, and potential recycling/reprocessing.

  • Provide insights into innovative technologies for waste reduction.

• Training and Development:

  • Oversee technical aspects of training programs for waste management staff.

  • Ensure understanding and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Evaluate training effectiveness and suggest improvements.

• Safety and Security:

  • Promote and follow ALARA principles and waste minimization practices.

  • Comply with all company health, safety, and security policies and procedures.

  • Ensure adherence to crisis management and business continuity plans.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree (required).
