Job Description
WSP is seeking a highly experienced Commercial Manager to join their core team in Qatar. In this role, you will play a leadership role in overseeing the commercial aspects of projects from design to delivery, ensuring successful project execution and financial performance.
Responsibilities:
Cost Management & Risk Mitigation:
Implement robust cost control measures and monitor project expenditures against budgets.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and proactively manage financial risks.
Client & Stakeholder Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
Address project issues, disputes, and contractual concerns to protect project interests.
Commercial Strategy & Risk Management:
Develop and execute commercial strategies aligned with project objectives and WSP's goals.
Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks associated with design and construction.
Create risk management plans to minimize disruptions and financial liabilities.
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to assess project feasibility, performance, and profitability.
Prepare accurate forecasts, budgets, and reports to inform strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
Contract Management:
Lead the commercial governance framework for project phases – design, construction, and delivery.
Oversee all aspects of contracts, from initial negotiation to closeout.
Ensure contracts are drafted, reviewed, executed, and adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and mentor a team of commercial professionals, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
Provide guidance, support, and development opportunities to enhance team effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying with a suitable contractual, legal, or commercial background (or equivalent).
Membership in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) preferred.
Minimum 20 years of experience.
Extensive experience in commercial management within the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors, with a focus on design and construction governance.
Knowledge of FIDIC forms of contract.
Excellent written and communication skills for clear and concise communication.
Negotiation skills to secure favorable contract terms with third parties.
Strong financial management skills and understanding of large company financial control systems.
Meticulous attention to detail for reviewing payment applications, certifications, and contracts.
