Job Description
To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHO country cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State's health and development agendas, and harmonized with the United Nations country teams.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The incumbent will perform the following duties:
Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel, WHO-Qatar Head of the office, other high-ranking officials, and visitors in connection with their official duties.
Drive office vehicles for transport of authorized personnel to different destinations, including field visits.
Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport, assist with basic visa and customs formalities and other arrangements, as required; ensure compliance with WHO rules and regulations including security and safety requirements.
Deliver/collect and facilitate the customs clearance of official incoming and outgoing pouches, hand-delivery of mail, parcels, and other heavy items to or from UN Agencies, Ministries, Embassies, Universities, airport, etc. with due regard to routine customs regulations and formalities.
Act as a messenger within the office, if needed and perform other related duties.
Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the vehicle, checks fuel, oil, battery, breaks, tyres, etc. Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs, ensure the proper functioning and cleanliness of the vehicle.
Log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc. Maintain all the required documents/supplies up to date: including vehicle insurance, license, registration, logs, office directory, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
Procure minor supplies for the Office, obtaining invoices for local purchase and arrange to pay office telephone and other bills, as required.
Facilitate on the ground the requests for visas, residencies, and similar processes with Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and Ministry of Interior (MoI) and other relevant entities, i.e. (issuance of new permits and special permits for CO and staff, etc.)
Ensures that all immediate actions required by WHO and UN rules and regulations and local requirements are adhered to in case of involvement in accidents.
Ensures that the vehicle is properly kept (in the garage or on the secured car park) during non-working hours.
Perform other relate duties, as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: Completion of secondary education or equivalent.
Must possess a valid professional local driving license for light vehicles.
Desirable: Bachelor's degree in a relevant area, e.g. administration, logistics, or a related field;
Experience
Essential: At least one year of professional experience in driving cars.
Desirable: Driving work experience in duty station and knowledge in office administrative and logistical support.
Skills
Basic mechanical knowledge and skills in operating and maintaining different types of vehicles.
Good knowledge of the topography of the country and full proficiency in local traffic regulations.
Proven ability to deal with clients with tact and respect for diversity.

Essential: Intermediate knowledge of English. Expert knowledge of Arabic.
Desirable: Beginners knowledge of French.

Work may involve some discomfort due to long driving hours, lifting of bags and/or parcels and being subject to weather and traffic risks.
Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including governmental authorities at different levels in addition to colleagues within the UN system and other partners.
Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet.
Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
Sound security awareness.
