Senior Buyer

Varel Energy Solutions (VES), a leading manufacturer of downhole drilling equipment, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Buyer to join their team in Dubai, UAE.

Summary:

In this role, you will play a key role in managing the procurement process for a variety of goods and services, including raw materials, equipment, tools, and supplies. You will be responsible for identifying and negotiating with suppliers, placing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of materials that meet quality and cost requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Source, contact, and negotiate with suppliers for materials, products, and services, considering factors like pricing, availability, and lead times.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential suppliers.

• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in procurement activities.

• Create accurate purchase orders with clear instructions and specifications.

• Track procurement metrics, including costs, delivery times, and product quality.

• Expedite the delivery of goods according to requirements and update the ERP system.

• Manage issues with defective materials or services, collaborating with inspection, quality control, and suppliers to find solutions.

• Inform internal teams about any supply chain issues that could impact operations.

• Analyze costs and propose strategies for reducing acquisition costs.

• Resolve price discrepancies with suppliers in a timely manner.

• Provide support for the development of new products, processes, or supplier relationships.

• Comply with VES's health, safety, and environmental policies and actively participate in training initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field (required).

• Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing with a strong understanding of purchasing principles and processes (required).

• Expertise in SAP and Excel (required).

• Experience with PCE product line (preferred).

• Proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers to achieve cost targets and identify cost-saving opportunities (required).

• Experience ensuring suppliers understand procurement priorities and meet delivery requirements (required).

• Ability to develop and maintain supplier data and resolve price discrepancies (required).

• Knowledge of a purchasing module within an ERP system (preferably SAP) (required).

• Strong analytical skills to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement in procurement processes (required).

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills (required).

• Fluency in English with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely (required).
