Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Safeguarding
To be the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for the Centre.
To be a main point of contact and liaison with the College Guardians and all other guardians for under 18s.
To monitor attendance for under 18s and report as necessary.
To provide pastoral support to under 18 students including meeting with them on a regular basis to discuss their progress academically, personally and practically.
General Student Welfare
Ensure a structured tutorial framework is in place, which addresses the needs of individual tutorials and group tutorials.
Monitor pastoral and academic welfare and ensure students are effectively signposted to the appropriate service in Bahrain to meet their welfare needs (e.g. medical center, accommodation, counselling services).
To counsel students with welfare and health issues, advising accordingly and maintaining notes in Progresso, keeping Centre staff informed as necessary.
Ensure student tutorial records are reported, kept up-to-date and are accurate.
Weekly attendance monitoring, reporting and analysis, through implementation of the Centre's attendance policy.
Meet with students to counsel on attendance and issue informal and first formal warnings, escalating where necessary.
To assist Centre management team and Student Experience team in helping students settle in, taking part in Induction week activities and presentations and providing induction information for late arriving students.
To assist in arranging social activities/events for students and supporting the work of the student council.
Other
Keep accurate records of all Extenuating Circumstances (EC) submissions and maintain the EC Log.
Attend the Extenuating Circumstances and Academic Misconduct Panels and other relevant meetings which are part of the Centre's quality framework.
Administration
To support the Administrative, Academic and Registry Officers, head of Student Experience, and Head of Centre with the day to day running of the International Study Centre.
To assist with data entry on spread sheets and databases.
Completion of reports for Head of Centre.
To collect and maintain student records and ensure records are archived in accordance with local procedures.

Qualifications & Training:
Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (E)
Tutoring experience (E)
First Aid (D)
Risk Assessment (D)
Prevent Duty (D)
Experience Required:
Experience of welfare within a Further Education environment
Providing pastoral support to international students
Partnership working or partnership management in the education sector
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Using data and reporting systems
Knowledge/Skills:
Understands the confidentiality requirements of the Data Protection Act
Understands the requirement for data sharing under safeguarding legislation
Knowledge of best practice in providing pastoral support to international students
Ability to analyse data and identify areas for improvement from the data
Flexibility and willingness to work to tight deadlines
Student-centred approach to planning and delivering educational services
Experience of working with a student management system (Progresso, for example)
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, in particular Word and Excel
Excellent Communication skills with good standard of written English
Works on own initiative and is a good team player
