Job Description
Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:
PLANNING AND ORGANISING:
To comply with all statutory and legal requirements for fire, health, and safety licensing and provide all necessary safety equipment required for work to be carried out efficiently and safely.
Plan and manage all preventative maintenance work, new projects, extensions, and renovations.
Continually monitor the responsible use of energy in the hotel and implement measures resulting in energy cost savings.
ADMINISTRATION
Liaise with HR overall employee matters including recruitment, interviewing, and performance management.
Control all payroll and business expenditures of the department.
MAINTENANCE:
Provide in-house mechanical and electrical servicing, repair, and maintenance using well-trained, presentable personnel carrying out maintenance works in an efficient, discreet and guest-friendly manner.
Carry out continuous inspections to ensure the highest level of guest comfort is maintained and that all services are in proper working condition.
Ensure that all maintenance requests are prioritized and are dealt with efficiently.
Develop a team of technically proficient and generally helpful technicians to carry out all maintenance and repair work to standard with technical specifications.
Acts as a Project Manager between hotel and outside contractors or technical services on major projects.
Attends seminars and technical exhibitions and reads relevant publications to keep him up to date in the Engineering field.
BUDGETING & FINANCE:
Adhere to departmental operating expenses as laid out in the plan/forecast.
Compile departmental work schedules and adhere to departmental payroll in line with budgets.
Prepare annual Engineering Budget and monthly expense forecasts in coordination with Finance Manager
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To attend all departmental meetings, briefings & internal or external training sessions as required.
To act wholeheartedly in the interests of the Company at all times & not to perform, arrange, or carry out any work or activity which could be considered to be in competition with or affect in any way the company interests or be detrimental or damaging to its public image.
To ensure maximum efficiency, employees are engaged on the basis that they must be prepared to undertake reasonable duties other than those for which they have been specifically engaged.
To participate in the Duty Management shifts as required by management.
Co-operate with management to ensure the successful application of the Company's Equal Opportunities & Harassment policies.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
3-5 years experience in a similar role in hospitality
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
Certification or experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or carpentry preferred
Ability to read blueprints and other technical documents
Organizational and budgeting skills
Team management skills
