Senior Instrument Technicians (Offshore)

Ensure the safe and reliable operation of oil and gas wellheads and process plants through expert maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems.

Responsibilities:

Wellhead Maintenance (WHM):

• Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and resolve issues within wellhead control systems, maintaining constant communication.

• Overhauling, Calibration, and Troubleshooting:

  • Service, calibrate, and troubleshoot various control valves (globe, throttling, self-regulating).

  • Perform field service and calibration on pneumatic devices using specialized tools (Hart communicator, Fluke loop calibrator, temperature calibrator, dead weight tester).

• Maintenance:

  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on wellhead control systems, pressure control valves (PCV), flow control valves (FCV), pressure transmitters, and temperature transmitters.

• Installation and Troubleshooting:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot various detection systems including electrochemical H₂S detectors, infrared detectors, flame detectors, heat detectors, and smoke detectors.

Instrument Maintenance Support (ALR, ISND, MM, BH, NFA & NSS, Halul):

• Dismantling, Repairing, Overhauling, and Testing:

  • Work on a variety of pneumatic, electronic, and smart instrumentation for measuring flow, pressure, level, and other process parameters.

• Replacement and Maintenance:

  • Replace and maintain instrumentation, auxiliary equipment, and cabling.

• Fire and Gas Systems:

  • Maintain, repair, and calibrate fire and gas detection and protection systems.

• Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and repair faults in electronic instrumentation, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and fieldbus systems.

• Routine and Non-Routine Maintenance:

  • Assist with various maintenance tasks as assigned by Qatar Energy.

• Shutdown Maintenance:

  • Perform essential maintenance activities during planned and unplanned plant shutdowns.

Skills:

• Education:

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC/HND) or equivalent in a relevant field from a recognized institution (preferred).

  • Three years' Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent) considered.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of seven years of experience in a similar industrial environment.

  • Proven experience with maintenance, installation, and calibration of field instrumentation.

  • Competence in handling Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems, fault-finding techniques, and calibration procedures.

  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, following manufacturer specifications and technical drawings.

  • Minimum of five years of experience working with Instrumentation and Control Systems.
