Project Overview:

Wood is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Qatar. You will play a pivotal role in delivering a major project within the Oil & Gas industry, ensuring successful execution across all technical and commercial aspects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the assigned project from initial stages through execution, handover to operations, and final closeout.

  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Delivery Manager and Project Engineers to ensure all customer requirements and project scope objectives are met.

  • Champion a strong safety culture, prioritizing HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Organize and manage HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies, ensuring effective mitigation of potential hazards.

  • Develop and manage project scopes for execution contracts.

  • Oversee and manage subcontractors and vendors, serving as the primary point of contact for all project-related matters.

  • Implement and maintain effective controls for project progress, budget, and risk management.

  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, adhering to best practices and demonstrating ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable).

  • Actively document and share lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Uphold Project Management of Change Procedures to safeguard engineering design integrity.

  • Ensure adherence to established Quality Control and Quality Assurance systems across all project phases.

  • Oversee the upload of as-built documentation into the designated AIMs system.

  • Foster a safe work environment by setting a positive example.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer or engineering chartership (preferred).

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent (preferred).

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in brownfield Oil & Gas project engineering, leading multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in brownfield Oil & Gas project delivery as an Umbrella Contract Senior Project Engineer.

  • Strong understanding of technical work scopes, commercial aspects, specifications, and industry standards.

  • In-depth knowledge of project contractual and commercial requirements, with the ability to effectively communicate them to less experienced team members.

  • Comprehensive understanding of project scopes, work carried out by various engineering disciplines, and inter-discipline coordination requirements.

  • Commitment to customer satisfaction, ensuring successful delivery for both internal and external clients.

  • Proven ability to apply established procedures and work practices for effective project and engineering management.

  • Understanding of the importance of accurate and timely project engineering deliverables.

  • Commercial acumen and ability to implement change control processes effectively.

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, procedures, and work practices, with excellent project and technical execution skills.

  • Leadership experience in managing project engineering teams and interfacing with various engineering disciplines.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong planning, organization, and execution abilities.

  • Effective problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment and contribute to a collaborative work style.
