Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Sr. Project Engineer (PE) to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of complex projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a designated portion of the project scope, ensuring the EPC contractor delivers in accordance with all project requirements (HSE, Quality, Technical, Commercial, Schedule).

  • Oversee all project execution phases, from contract award to final acceptance and closeout.

  • Initially embed within the contractor's office and transition to project sites as work progresses.

  • Act as the company representative and focal point for the assigned scope, handling contract administration, monitoring progress, managing change orders, and preparing related correspondence.

  • Collaborate with discipline engineers and project team members to ensure successful completion of your assigned scope.

  • Champion the "Nobody Gets Hurt" HSE philosophy and ensure contractor adherence to company HSE policies and regulations.

  • Take ownership of the assigned scope, driving engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning activities to meet project objectives and deadlines.

  • Verify contractor compliance with established work processes and procedures.

  • Ensure contractor work adheres to accepted industry practices and project specifications.

  • Manage interfaces between your assigned scope and other project components.

  • Review contractor deliverables, track purchase orders, and resolve any issues causing delays.

  • Serve as the PMT/PMC focal point for approving vendors/subcontractors and field changes within your scope.

  • Proactively identify areas for performance improvement and take corrective actions when necessary.

  • Manage contractor performance and escalate performance issues when required.

  • Oversee proper preservation measures throughout project execution.

  • Engage the project team and resources to ensure design, fabrication, and construction align with project specifications and standards.

  • Support the development and administration of an engagement plan to manage anticipated reviews, uncertainties, and resource allocation.

  • Manage key issues and project issues specific to your assigned scope.

  • Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction surveillance plans.

  • Assist with the administration of the Third-Party Verification Program.

  • Consolidate and align the company's position on matters related to your assigned scope.

  • Support external reviews and manage follow-up actions.

  • Coordinate specification deviations requiring subject matter expert review and input.

  • Act as a liaison between the project team and the contractor.

  • Facilitate meetings to address issues and ensure contractor delivery in accordance with the contract.

  • Manage and enforce contract requirements and coordination procedures.

  • Review and approve changes (MOCs) for your designated project component and ensure their implementation.

  • Prepare project correspondence related to your allocated scope.

  • Ensure smooth transitions between project stages (engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation/construction, commissioning).

  • Lead and coordinate interfaces between project components, stages, and other sites within your area of responsibility.

  • Facilitate problem-solving activities across project sites.

  • Ensure coordination of external interfaces with other contractors.

  • Assist with handover planning from project to operations.

  • Champion the application of project management systems within the PMT/PMC team.

  • Contribute to monthly progress reports and provide work status updates to the team leader and/or project manager.

  • Ensure effective capture and application of project lessons learned.

  • Assist in the development of UAE national staff to take on leadership roles within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree from an accredited university.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering, construction, project management and controls, or related project experience in other functions/companies (multi-discipline background preferred).

  • Strong understanding of project management elements and standards, including contract terms and conditions.

  • Proven knowledge of engineering, fabrication, construction, planning, resource allocation, contract management, and administrative functions.

  • Prior experience working with EPC contractors, operating companies, and engineering consultants.

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills.

  • Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface management skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.

  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
