Job Description

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Environmental Management:

  1. Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) to evaluate potential environmental effects of proposed projects or activities.

  2. Identify and assess risks to air, water, soil, and biodiversity, considering factors like pollution, habitat destruction, and resource depletion.

  3. Provide recommendations for mitigation measures and alternative solutions to minimize adverse environmental impacts.

  4. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and standards at local, national, and international levels.

  5. Interpret and apply relevant environmental laws and regulations to project planning, design, and implementation.

  6. Liaise with regulatory authorities and agencies to obtain permits and approvals for environmental aspects of projects.

  7. Develop and implement pollution control measures to prevent or minimize pollution from industrial processes, construction activities, and waste disposal.

  8. Design and oversee installation of pollution control systems such as wastewater treatment plants, air pollution control devices, and hazardous waste management facilities.

  9. Monitor and assess environmental performance through sampling, testing, and analysis of air, water, and soil quality.

  10. Promote sustainability practices and principles within project teams and across the organization.

  11. Identify opportunities for resource conservation, energy efficiency, and waste reduction to minimize environmental footprint.

  12. Incorporate sustainable design and green technologies into project plans to enhance environmental performance.

  13. Develop and implement environmental management systems (EMS) to systematically identify, assess, and manage environmental risks and opportunities.

  14. Conduct audits and reviews to evaluate effectiveness of EMS implementation and ensure continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Project Management:

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables.

  2. Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and ensure adherence to project timelines.

  3. Contribute to design and development of engineering solutions, including drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

  4. Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet project requirements.

  5. Oversee project execution, monitor progress, and identify and address issues or deviations from plans.

  6. Identify project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts.

This role plays a crucial part in ensuring environmental compliance, sustainability, and effective project management within the organization.
