Job Description

The Instrument & Control Engineering Specialist is responsible for providing expertise in instrument and control engineering to ensure the optimal functioning of all relevant equipment to support Borouge's operations. This includes adherence to original equipment manufacturer's guidelines, engineering standards, and relevant ADNOC and international standards. The role encompasses complex troubleshooting, root-cause failure analysis, design review, and providing solutions for equipment repair and modifications to enhance performance. Additionally, the Specialist is tasked with continually improving maintenance strategies based on equipment failure data, advising on critical jobs, supervising equipment operation, and ensuring safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance Planning:

    • Develop and enhance predictive, preventive, and major maintenance programs.

    • Review preventive maintenance programs for compliance and minimum assurance tasks.

    • Review material requirements, stock levels, and bill of materials in SAP.

    • Identify obsolete systems and spare parts, plan risk mitigation, and propose design changes.

    • Lead major shutdown activities and monitor maintenance costs.

  2. Reliability:

    • Implement reliability improvement plans and design changes.

    • Lead reliability improvement projects during Turnaround and plant operation.

    • Conduct failure analysis and recommend preventive actions.

    • Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures.

  3. Troubleshooting:

    • Analyze equipment failure data and implement appropriate maintenance strategies.

    • Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and design review.

  4. Maintenance Execution:

    • Provide field support and advise on critical maintenance activities.

    • Perform technical evaluation and inspection on plant equipment and spare parts.

    • Support system engineers for maintaining DCS, ESD & MCMS system hardware.

  5. Maintenance Excellence:

    • Develop maintenance cost improvement programs.

    • Identify statutory requirements and collaborate with internal and external agencies.

    • Analyze current maintenance approaches and develop innovative solutions.

    • Provide support for implementing minor/medium projects and participate in project reviews.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience as an Instrumentation & Control Engineer.

  • Experience in troubleshooting instruments & control systems.

  • Knowledge of failure analysis and root cause analysis techniques.

  • Familiarity with international standards for instrument & control systems.

  • Knowledge of SAP maintenance modules and APMS software is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of common control system software and communication protocols.

  • Awareness of field instrument sizing techniques and operation & maintenance manuals.

  • Proficiency in Office Software such as Windows and Microsoft Office tools.
