The Opportunity
AECOM is seeking a skilled MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Engineer to join their team and play a pivotal role in the design and construction of MEP systems for building projects. You'll collaborate with a talented team and leverage your expertise to deliver exceptional results.
What You'll Do
Project Planning & Coordination:
Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive MEP design plans that meet project requirements and goals.
Participate in project planning meetings, providing valuable input on MEP system design, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
MEP Design Management:
Lead the MEP design development process, overseeing all aspects of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other related systems.
Review and approve design drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical submittals to ensure adherence to building codes, industry standards, and regulations.
Work closely with design consultants and internal teams to resolve conflicts, discrepancies, and technical challenges that may arise during the MEP design phase.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
Assist in developing project budgets and cost estimates for MEP design and installation.
Monitor project expenses, track costs diligently, and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or performance.
Procurement & Vendor Management:
Collaborate with procurement teams to source the MEP equipment, materials, and subcontractor services required for successful project execution.
Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to support construction activities.
Construction Supervision:
Provide on-site supervision and oversight of MEP installation activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Work effectively with construction teams to resolve field-related issues, manage change orders, and adapt MEP systems as needed.
Quality Assurance & Testing:
Implement quality assurance programs and procedures to verify the integrity, functionality, and performance of MEP systems throughout the construction process.
Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems to identify deficiencies, troubleshoot problems, and ensure proper operation.
Team Leadership & Communication:
Supervise and mentor MEP engineering staff, designers, and other project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Maintain open communication with project stakeholders, providing regular updates, resolving issues, and addressing concerns related to MEP design and construction.
The Ideal Candidate
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Minimum 15 years of experience in MEP design and construction management, with a focus on building projects.
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems design and installation.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant MEP design software.
Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and manage multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to MEP systems design and installation.
