The Opportunity

AECOM is seeking a skilled MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Engineer to join their team and play a pivotal role in the design and construction of MEP systems for building projects. You'll collaborate with a talented team and leverage your expertise to deliver exceptional results.

What You'll Do

• Project Planning & Coordination:

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive MEP design plans that meet project requirements and goals.

  • Participate in project planning meetings, providing valuable input on MEP system design, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

• MEP Design Management:

  • Lead the MEP design development process, overseeing all aspects of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other related systems.

  • Review and approve design drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical submittals to ensure adherence to building codes, industry standards, and regulations.

  • Work closely with design consultants and internal teams to resolve conflicts, discrepancies, and technical challenges that may arise during the MEP design phase.

• Budgeting & Cost Control:

  • Assist in developing project budgets and cost estimates for MEP design and installation.

  • Monitor project expenses, track costs diligently, and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or performance.

• Procurement & Vendor Management:

  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source the MEP equipment, materials, and subcontractor services required for successful project execution.

  • Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to support construction activities.

• Construction Supervision:

  • Provide on-site supervision and oversight of MEP installation activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.

  • Work effectively with construction teams to resolve field-related issues, manage change orders, and adapt MEP systems as needed.

• Quality Assurance & Testing:

  • Implement quality assurance programs and procedures to verify the integrity, functionality, and performance of MEP systems throughout the construction process.

  • Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems to identify deficiencies, troubleshoot problems, and ensure proper operation.

• Team Leadership & Communication:

  • Supervise and mentor MEP engineering staff, designers, and other project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Maintain open communication with project stakeholders, providing regular updates, resolving issues, and addressing concerns related to MEP design and construction.

The Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.

• Minimum 15 years of experience in MEP design and construction management, with a focus on building projects.

• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems design and installation.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant MEP design software.

• Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

• Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and manage multidisciplinary teams.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

• Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to MEP systems design and installation.
