Job Description
Pre-Contract:
* Tendering and Bidding:
Lead the tendering process, including reviewing tender documents, preparing bids, and negotiating contracts with clients and subcontractors.
Contract Negotiation: Negotiate favorable contract terms and conditions to mitigate risks and maximize profitability.
Cost Estimation: Provide accurate cost estimates and budget forecasts for projects, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
Risk Management: Identify and assess commercial risks associated with projects, develop risk mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Supplier Management: Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, including negotiating agreements, monitoring performance, and resolving disputes.
Post-Contract:
* Contract Administration:
Oversee contract administration processes, including contract amendments, variations, and claims management.
Cost Control: Monitor project costs against budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure financial objectives are met.
Change Management: Manage change control procedures, assessing the impact of changes on project scope, cost, and schedule, and ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained.
Dispute Resolution: Manage commercial disputes and claims in collaboration with legal and project teams, seeking timely resolution to minimize project delays and financial losses.
Performance Reporting: Prepare regular reports on project financial performance, highlighting key metrics, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., MRICS, CIPS) is preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in commercial management, preferably within the construction or engineering.
Proven experience in both pre and post-contract commercial activities, including tendering, contract negotiation, cost estimation, and contract administration.
Strong understanding of commercial and contractual principles, with the ability to interpret and apply complex contract terms and conditions.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
Proficiency in commercial management software and Microsoft Office suite, with advanced skills in Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
