Surveyor I, Senior

Responsibilities:

• Applies ABS rules, regulations, and procedures.

• Conducts surveys on vessels, platforms, and marine structures.

• Prepares technical reports of inspections and surveys.

• Resolves client problems within area of expertise.

• Maintains survey files and stays updated on industry developments.

• Recommends improvements to surveying processes and safety programs.

• Plans, schedules, and coordinates survey work and monitors quality of service.

• Supervises and guides lower-level surveyors.

• Promotes ABS services to current and potential clients.

Qualifications:

• Degree in engineering, physical science, or marine/nautical field (or equivalent experience).

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Surveyor II.

• Understanding of ABS technical positioning or 8 years' experience with an IACS member society.

• Relevant certifications and licenses may be required.

• Ability to learn ABS rules, regulations, and safety policies.

• Ability to read engineering plans and understand shipbuilding practices.

• Proficiency in survey procedures and software.

• Knowledge of technical interfaces for group projects.

• Understanding of ships' engineering systems.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Problem-solving and analytical skills.

Reporting:

• Reports to a Principal Surveyor or higher under a Survey Manager or District/Country Manager.

• May supervise or provide guidance to lower-level surveyors.
